About the University College of the North (UCN) GPA Calculator

University College of the North (UCN) uses a percentage-based grading system on a 0.0–4.5 scale. The highest grade, A+, is worth 4.50 grade points, while D (1.00) is the lowest grade that earns grade points. This calculator follows UCN's official scheme, so the cumulative GPA it returns matches what your transcript will show.

To calculate your GPA at UCN, enter each course's name, credit hours, and the marks you scored. The calculator weights every course by its credit hours and divides total grade points by total credits to produce your cumulative GPA — no signup required, and your inputs stay in your browser.

How UCN's grading system works

What does an A+ mean at UCN?

An A+ is the highest grade awarded at UCN and is worth 4.50 grade points, typically requiring 90% or higher. On a standard US 4.0 scale, this is roughly equivalent to 4.

How does this scale compare to the US 4.0 GPA?

UCN grades on a 0.0–4.5 scale. To approximate the US 4.0 equivalent, multiply your GPA by 0.889. For reference, the highest grade (A+ = 4.50) corresponds to about 4 on a US 4.0 scale. Note that admissions offices usually request an official transcript evaluation rather than a self-converted GPA.

Cumulative GPA vs term GPA — what's the difference?

Your term GPA reflects performance in a single semester, while your cumulative GPA averages performance across every completed semester, weighted by credit hours. GPAWise handles both: enter the current semester's courses on the Calculator tab to compute your term GPA, then save it to the My Cumulative GPA Tracker tab to start building your cumulative record at UCN.

Track your cumulative GPA across semesters

The built-in cumulative GPA tracker lets you save each semester after you calculate it, so you can watch your cumulative GPA evolve over time. You can save a semester in two ways: by course — enter every course on the calculator and click "Save as semester" — or as a quick entry, where you supply just the term GPA and credit hours (useful for past semesters where you don't want to re-enter every grade).

Each saved semester contributes to your cumulative GPA using the standard weighted formula: Σ(term GPA × credits) ÷ Σ(credits). The tracker shows your running cumulative GPA, total credits, and a trend arrow that compares your latest semester to the previous one — so you can see at a glance whether you're trending up or down. Semesters can be locked to prevent accidental edits, renamed, or deleted at any time.

Your tracker data stays on this device — nothing is sent to our servers, and no signup is required. A persistent "Clear all tracker data" option lets you wipe it whenever you want.

Term GPA to cumulative GPA at UCN — how the conversion works

Your cumulative GPA is not a plain average of your term GPAs: each semester is weighted by the credit hours it carried. The formula is:

Cumulative GPA = (GPA1 × credits1 + GPA2 × credits2 + … + GPAn × creditsn) ÷ (credits1 + credits2 + … + creditsn)

Heavier semesters pull the cumulative figure harder than lighter ones, which is why two students with the same average term GPA can end up with different cumulative GPAs. Save each semester to the tracker and it runs this formula on every save, edit and delete.

Add past semesters without entering every course

For older semesters, choose Quick — Term GPA + credits only on the tracker and enter the semester's name, the term GPA on your transcript and the credit hours it carried. Semesters saved by course and quick-added ones mix freely. A semester saved by course counts its courses' own grade points; a quick-added one counts the figure you typed, which is already rounded, so the two can differ by 0.01 in the cumulative GPA.

How do I convert term GPA to cumulative GPA at UCN?
Your cumulative GPA is the credit-weighted average of your term GPAs across every semester: (term GPA₁ × credits₁ + … + term GPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + … + creditsₙ). Save each semester to the tracker on this page, by course or as a quick term GPA + credits entry, and it works out your cumulative GPA on every save, edit and delete.
Is this UCN GPA calculator free, and is my data private?
Yes. GPAWise is free, with no signup, and your courses and saved semesters stay in your browser: nothing is sent to our servers. "Clear all tracker data" on the tracker wipes them at any time.
