Fleming College GPA Calculator

Fleming College grades most courses on a numeric percentage designation (0 to 100), assigned by faculty at the end of the semester and recorded on the official transcript. Percentage grades carry a corresponding letter grade and grade point on a 4.0 scale (A+ capped at 4.0, not 4.3) — see the Grade Scale Reference above for the exact bands.

You need at least 50% in a course to earn a passing grade. Some courses set a higher floor and/or require mandatory components to pass, with Dean-level approval — check the course outline for the specific requirement.

No single evaluation activity may count for more than 30% of your final grade without Dean or designate approval, and grades for attendance alone are not permitted (except where attendance is tied to an accreditation or professional designation).

Fleming's GPA is a weighted, hours-based figure: the total grade points earned from final grades on the transcript, divided by the total number of instructional hours — not a simple average of letter grades. A Cumulative GPA is calculated the same way for each term of study to date, and a Program GPA is calculated at program completion across all instructional hours in the program.

Repeating a course: if you retake a course, the highest grade achieved counts toward your GPA — but every attempt still appears on your transcript.

Several transcript designations are excluded from the GPA entirely: Pass/Fail (P/F), Incomplete (INC), Grade Deferred (GD), Aegrotat (AGR), Exempt (EX), Audit (AUD), Withdrawn (W), and Withdrawn Fail (WF). An Incomplete lapses to a Fail after 30 calendar days if the coursework isn't finished; a Grade Deferred lapses to a Fail after one year.

At the end of each term, Fleming evaluates your semester GPA to determine standing:

• Good Standing — semester GPA of 2.0 or greater, with all registered courses successfully completed.
• Academic Intervention — GPA between 1.5 and 1.99, or one failing grade in the semester.
• Academic Probation – Level 1 — GPA below 1.5, and/or two or more failing grades in the semester.
• Academic Probation – Level 2 — GPA below 1.5, and/or two or more failing grades, while already on Level 1 or Level 2.

Students on Intervention or Probation can still progress pending completion of prerequisite courses, and may be required to take a reduced or part-time course load or follow a custom Learning Plan developed with their program coordinator. As of the June 2025 policy revision, academic suspension for poor academic performance was eliminated. This progression regime excludes Continuing Education and Real Estate Education (RECO) programming.

Where a student receives External Transfer Credit, the Office of the Registrar assigns a course grade of Exempt (EX). An EX designation is not included in the GPA calculation.
