Grading at Skyline College
Skyline College uses two grade modes: Letter Grade and Pass/No Pass. Letter grades are averaged by point equivalency to compute a student's GPA; the highest grade (A) receives 4 points and the lowest (F) receives 0 points. There is no A+ grade.
Pass/No Pass courses carry no grade points and their units are not calculated toward GPA at all.

How GPA Is Calculated
Grade point average is determined by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of letter-graded (GPA) units. Several transcript symbols are never used in this computation: Incomplete (I), In Progress (IP), Report Delayed (RD), Withdrawal (W), Military Withdrawal (MW), and Pass/No Pass grades.
Under procedures such as Grade Alleviation, Academic Renewal, and Course Repetition, a course may be separately annotated as Excluded (E) or Included (I) in the GPA calculation.

Academic Standing
Skyline College's Academic Standards Policy, shared across the San Mateo County Community College District, requires a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 (C) for graduation or transfer; a GPA below 2.0 is considered deficient. Academic standing, including probation or dismissal status, is based on all coursework completed at Skyline College, Cañada College, and College of San Mateo.

Pass/No Pass Unit Limits
