Non-GPA grade notations
Alongside the letter-grade scale, Queens College records several notations that carry no grade-point value and are excluded from the GPA: W (official withdrawal), WN (never attended, never withdrew), WD (dropped in the 2nd/3rd week), INC (incomplete, a temporary grade), P (Pass, under the P/NC option), NC (No Credit), and CR (Credit Earned). Effective Fall 2021 and after, WU (Withdrew Unofficially) also carries no punitive impact on the GPA; prior to Fall 2021 it was recorded as a failing 0.0.

Pass/No Credit, repeat courses, and first-semester grading
Students may elect the Pass/No Credit (P/NC) option for one course per semester (plus one in Winter or Summer Session), up to a maximum of 21 credits toward the degree; P and NC do not affect the GPA, and grades of P are not counted toward the 45 letter-graded credits required for general college honor.
Under the CUNY grade-replacement policy, F, FIN, and WF count as "F-grade"; up to 16 credits may be replaced when the repeated course is passed with a C or better, removing the F from the GPA. Beyond 16 credits, or when repeating a course already passed, both the old and new grades are averaged into the GPA.
Under the First-Semester Grading Policy (effective Fall 2017, not retroactive), failing grades (F, FIN, WF) earned by first-semester freshmen (24 or fewer transfer credits) or first-semester transfers (30 or fewer transfer credits) are converted by the Registrar to NC or R.

Good academic standing and probation
A cumulative GPA above 2.0 is Good Academic Standing; below 2.0 is Academic Probation. D (60-66, 1.0) is the lowest passing grade in the undergraduate division. Individual majors may set stricter grade or GPA requirements beyond the college-wide standard.

Pass/No Credit and general college honor
Grades of P are not applied toward general college honor, which requires completing at least 45 credits with letter grades at Queens College. Most graduate schools consider a P grade equivalent to a D.
