Grading Symbols and Marks
In addition to the letter grades used in the grade point average, the following marks may appear on a student's record:
- I (Incomplete) — may be recorded by an instructor on approval of a written student request. It must be resolved within 30 days after the end of the course (or within five days into the next term if the course is a prerequisite for one the student is already enrolled in). While pending, an Incomplete does not affect the semester or cumulative GPA; if the work is not completed in time, a grade of F is automatically recorded.
- W (Withdrawn) — assigned to a student who withdraws from a course at any time up to the 60% point of the semester, without academic penalty. No withdrawals are permitted after that point.
- R (Audit) — recorded for a course taken on an audit basis; no credit is earned.
- P / NC (Pass / No Credit) — available on a limited basis for elective coursework. Neither a P nor an NC affects the grade point average.

Course Repeats and GPA Effect
Any course may be repeated.
Grades of I (Incomplete), W (Withdrawn), R (Audit), P (Pass) and NC (No Credit) carry no grade point value and are not counted in the semester or cumulative grade point average.

Academic Standing
Degree-seeking students with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at the end of each fall and spring semester maintain a designation of Good Standing.
A student who attempts at least 12 credits in a fall or spring semester with a cumulative GPA below 2.00 (a "C" average) will have an academic standing imposed — Academic Warning, Academic Probation, Continued Probation, or Academic Suspension — in accordance with Policy #5156.
A student returning from Academic Suspension is assigned Academic Reinstatement status until the completion of one semester, after which standing is reassessed based on cumulative GPA. A probationary student normally carries no more than 13 credit hours in a semester. A student placed on academic sanction or suspension may appeal to the Academic Standards Committee.
