Nevada State University GPA Calculator

The grade point average (GPA) is determined by dividing the sum of earned grade points by the total number of credits attempted for a regular letter grade. The I, AD, W, NR, S, and U grades are excluded from the calculation of the GPA.

Students may retake a course; only the most recent attempt is used in the GPA calculation and for credits earned, though the original grade remains on the transcript. A course may be retaken up to two times without approval; a further retake requires a petition. A grade earned for a course repeated at a different institution does not replace the grade earned at Nevada State University for GPA purposes.

Good Academic Standing indicates a student has performed at a level that meets minimum NSC GPA requirements. A student falls to Academic Warning after failing to earn a minimum 2.0 NSC Semester GPA based on attempted/earned credits; continued failure to earn a 2.0 NSC Semester GPA moves a student from Warning to Academic Probation, then to Academic Suspension, and ultimately to Academic Dismissal. A student returns to good standing by earning an NSC Semester GPA of 2.0 or higher while also holding an NSC Cumulative GPA above 2.0.

To earn a baccalaureate degree, a student must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 across all postsecondary coursework attempted, as well as an overall Nevada State GPA of at least 2.0.

• Dean's List: a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• President's List: a semester GPA of 4.0.
• Latin honors are based on cumulative GPA and class rank at graduation: Summa Cum Laude (top 5.00% of the graduating class), Magna Cum Laude (top 5.01%-10.00%), Cum Laude (top 10.01%-20.00%), and Distinction (cumulative GPA of 3.7, up to the top 10.0% of the graduating class).
• Latin honors require at least half of the student's required degree credits to be letter graded (A-F).

Standard transfer admission requires at least twelve (12) transferable credits completed with a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Applicants with eleven or fewer completed transferable credits must instead meet a minimum 2.5 high school GPA together with a minimum 2.0 GPA on all transferable credits completed.
