Institute of Business Management (IoBM) GPA Calculator

IoBM uses an absolute grading system: a course grade is assigned from the aggregate marks a student secures across the two hourly exams and the final examination, against fixed marks bands. Each letter grade carries a fixed grade point on a 0.00–4.00 scale — the full marks-to-grade-to-point mapping is shown in the Grade Scale Reference on this page.

The minimum passing grade is D (60–61%, worth 1.75 grade points); anything below 60% is an F (0.00 grade points, no credit). Grade points are then used to compute the cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

Grade points from every course accumulate into the cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). IoBM offers a structured way to raise it:

• Grade improvement is available to undergraduates whose CGPA is below 2.5 (below 3.0 for graduate students). You may re-appear in a course only if you originally scored at least C- (undergraduate) or C (graduate).
• Only courses in which you received a C, D or F may be repeated for credit, and only one repetition is permitted unless the Dean authorises otherwise.
• When a course is repeated, the higher of the two grades is counted toward the CGPA, and the credit hours count only once toward the degree.

A student who misses the final examination for a genuine, documented reason may apply for an Incomplete ('I') grade, provided their first and second hourly marks are at least 60%. The final exam must then be sat the following semester; if those marks fall below 60%, the 'I' converts to an F.

Academic standing is tracked by semester GPA and CGPA (calculated with F grades included):

• Warning — when a student's semester GPA falls below 2.0 in a semester.
• Probation — when the GPA remains below 2.00 in the second semester attended. A student on probation may take only 50% of the normal course load.
• Admission cancelled — if the semester GPA stays below 2.00 for three consecutive semesters, or if a student secures a 0 GPA in the first semester.

Separately, under the Below Good Standing policy, a bachelor's student whose CGPA is below 2.00 for two consecutive semesters (or a master's student below 2.5) has their admission cancelled.

Good-standing and degree-conferment floors differ by program level:

• BBA (Honors) and BS students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.0 for good standing, and a CGPA of 2.5 is required for the degree to be conferred.
• MBA and MPhil students must maintain a CGPA of 2.5 for good standing, and a CGPA of 3.0 is required to receive the degree. MBA and MS students must repeat any course in which they receive an F or D.

IoBM's top academic honor is the President's Merit Scholarship (PMS), awarded to students who achieve the highest CGPA of 3.69 in an academic year. Recipients' names are placed on the website and notice boards, and merit certificates are signed by the Registrar, Rector and President of IoBM.

Students seeking credit transfer must apply in their first semester, submitting transcripts and course outlines for review by the equivalence committee. Key conditions:

• You must have secured a B or better in each course to be transferred, and the course title and outline must match IoBM's course plan.
• Requests must be for the same level of program — bachelor's courses cannot transfer into a master's program.
• Up to two semesters of courses may be accepted from highly reputed, HEC-recognised institutions; a maximum of 3 courses may be transferred into an MPhil/PhD program.

Transferred courses count toward the degree once and are reviewed case by case.
