Delgado Community College (DCC) GPA Calculator

A student's grade point average is computed by adding the total quality points for all courses for which quality point values may be computed, then dividing by the corresponding number of credit hours attempted during the same period.

An Incomplete (I) is not used in calculating the GPA while outstanding, but converts to an F for GPA purposes if not resolved by the deadline. A grade of Pass (P), awarded only for nontraditional and non-credit courses, is never used in computing the GPA.

Students may repeat a course as many times as they choose, as long as they have not already taken a higher-level course in the same area. Beginning Fall 2026, the highest grade received becomes the official grade computed in the GPA. For courses repeated prior to Fall 2026, the last grade received is the official grade, and the prior grade is not computed in the GPA. Courses previously transferred with a D, F, or W are excluded from this policy, since Delgado no longer accepts transfer courses carrying those grades (effective Spring 2020).

A student with both a current-term and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher on all Delgado coursework is in good academic standing. A student is placed on academic probation whenever the current-term GPA or the Delgado adjusted cumulative GPA falls below 2.0, though no student is placed on probation before attempting at least 15 adjusted cumulative quality credit hours. While on probation, enrollment is capped at 13 credit hours (fall/spring), 7 (summer), or 3 (intersession); a student remains on probation as long as each semester's average stays at or above 2.0, and is removed once the adjusted cumulative GPA reaches 2.0 or higher.

To graduate, a student must earn at least a C in each required major course, an overall GPA of 2.0 on all courses used toward the degree or certificate, and a cumulative Total Institutional GPA of 2.0 on coursework taken at Delgado. A D or F earned in a required major course must be repeated; no substitution or transfer credit from another institution is permitted in its place.

Each fall and spring semester, degree-seeking students completing at least 12 hours (9 for associate degree nursing students) with no grade below C are named to the Dean's List at a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher, or the Honors List at 3.00-3.49, both requiring an institutional cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.

At graduation, an associate-degree recipient with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.8 on Delgado coursework (plus 45 credit hours at Delgado and the final 15 hours in required courses completed at Delgado) is designated a Chancellor's Honor Graduate; a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 (with 45 hours at Delgado and 12 of the final 15 hours in required courses at Delgado) earns the distinction of Honor Graduate.

The Louisiana Board of Regents publishes a statewide Master Course Articulation Matrix and Common Course Catalog to ease credit transfer between Louisiana public higher-education institutions. Delgado also maintains its own articulation agreements with other colleges and universities, available through the College's Transfer Center or an academic advisor.
