Contra Costa College GPA Calculator

Each course is graded under one of three designations, shown with the course description: LR (Letter Grade only), P/NP (Pass/No Pass only), or SC (Student Choice between the two, with an irreversible election deadline each term).

Contra Costa College also uses a CR/NC (Credit/No Credit) notation on some records, which the college's own governing procedure treats as equivalent to P/NP rather than as a separately graded, point-bearing outcome.

GPA is computed by multiplying the units of each course (for which grade points are assigned) by the grade points earned, summing those totals across all courses, and dividing by the total attempted units in courses for which grade points were assigned. Grades of P and NP do not affect GPA.

Academic alert applies once a student has attempted 12 or more units and their GPA drops below 2.0. Academic dismissal follows three consecutive terms with a cumulative GPA below 2.0, unless the most recent term's GPA is 2.0 or higher. A student is removed from academic alert or dismissal once their cumulative GPA reaches 2.0 or higher.

Progress alert and dismissal are tracked separately, based on the share of enrolled units recorded as W, IP, or NC rather than on GPA.

An Associate in Arts (AA-T) or Associate in Science (AS-T) transfer degree requires a minimum of 60 semester units of CSU-transferable coursework with a GPA of 2.0 or higher, all major courses completed with a "C" grade or higher, and completion of the Cal-GETC general education pattern.

Full-time students earning a term GPA of 3.0 or above in 12 or more graded units are placed on the Dean's List. Graduates earning a cumulative GPA between 3.25 and 3.74 in all degree-applicable coursework are recognized as Honors Graduates; a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher earns President's Scholar recognition.

Graduation and general-education-pattern requirements are governed by the catalog in effect at a student's first enrollment in any Contra Costa Community College District college (Contra Costa College, Diablo Valley College, or Los Medanos College), provided continuous enrollment is maintained; a break in enrollment resets catalog rights to the catalog in effect when the student re-enrolls or petitions to graduate.
