Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) GPA Calculator

Georgia Tech's letter grades A, B, C, D and F are the only ones that carry quality points toward your GPA — worth 4, 3, 2, 1 and 0 respectively. There is no A+ at Georgia Tech.

The Institute does not fix a single percentage-to-letter conversion campus-wide. Each instructor sets and publishes their own grading criteria on the course syllabus, so the percentage that earns an A in one class may not be the cutoff in another — check the individual course syllabus rather than assume a universal scale.

Several other marks appear on a Georgia Tech transcript but carry no quality points and are not counted in your GPA at all: S/U (Pass/Fail-basis courses), V (audit), W (withdrawal without penalty), I (incomplete), NR (not reported) and IJ (incomplete pending an academic-integrity investigation).

Georgia Tech calls your GPA the academic average: total quality points earned divided by total credit hours attempted.

For each course you pass, multiply the course's credit hours by the numerical value of the letter grade earned to get that course's quality points — for example, a C in a 3-credit-hour course earns 6 quality points.

Your average is truncated, not rounded, after two decimal places.

If you repeat a course you've already received credit for, both grades stay in your average and the credit is counted only once — the later grade does not erase the earlier one, unless an approved grade-substitution request applies. Courses taken on a Pass/Fail basis are excluded from the academic average entirely.

Undergraduates' average includes all courses taken as an undergraduate; graduate students' average includes only courses taken after entering the graduate division.
