Which courses count toward my GPA

Developmental courses offered through the Comprehensive Studies Department (numbered below 100) generate no credit hours and do not affect the GPA or count toward graduation. Developmental courses numbered 100 or above generate credit hours and affect the GPA, but still do not count toward graduation in any degree, diploma, or certificate program.

How GPA is calculated

GPA is calculated by multiplying each course's credit hours by its grade-point value to get quality points, summing quality points and credit hours separately across all courses, then dividing total quality points by total credit hours.

Academic standing

A minimum institutional (cumulative) GPA of 2.00 is required for satisfactory academic standing. A student who falls below this minimum is placed on Warning for the next term. Achieving a 2.00 term GPA without yet reaching the 2.00 institutional minimum moves the student to Academic Recovery, then Probation if the shortfall continues, then Suspension, and finally Dismissal if the institutional and term GPA still do not meet the minimum after a suspension term.

How do I convert semester GPA to cumulative GPA at TCTC?
Your cumulative GPA is the credit-weighted average of your semester GPAs across every semester: (semester GPA₁ × credits₁ + … + semester GPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + … + creditsₙ). Save each semester to the tracker on this page, by course or as a quick semester GPA + credits entry, and it works out your cumulative GPA on every save, edit and delete.
Is this TCTC GPA calculator free, and is my data private?
Yes. GPAWise is free, with no signup, and your courses and saved semesters stay in your browser: nothing is sent to our servers. "Clear all tracker data" on the tracker wipes them at any time.
