How TCU Calculates GPA
TCU maintains two GPAs: a semester GPA for courses taken during a single term, and a cumulative GPA for all coursework attempted at TCU. GPA is computed by dividing total grade points earned by total credit hours attempted at TCU.
Courses taken on a Pass/No-Credit (P/NC) basis, and other non-grade designators (Audit, Administrative Withdrawal, Incomplete, Satisfactory, Withdrawn), are excluded from the GPA calculation. Transfer coursework counts toward degree requirements but is not included in the TCU GPA.
Students are responsible for notifying the Office of the Registrar when a course is repeated.

Academic Standing
The minimum satisfactory record at TCU is an overall 2.00 cumulative GPA. Each semester's grades are reviewed against this standard.
- Academic Notice: issued after a student's first semester if their cumulative TCU GPA falls below 2.00. Not recorded on the transcript, and given only once.
- Academic Warning: issued if the cumulative TCU GPA remains below 2.00 at the end of any later semester. Recorded on the transcript.
- Academic Suspension: follows a warning if the cumulative GPA is still below 2.00 at the end of a subsequent semester. Recorded on the transcript; re-enrollment requires the academic dean's approval, and a re-enrolled student returns automatically on warning.
- Academic Dismissal: follows a second suspension if the cumulative GPA is still below 2.00. Final, with no reinstatement.
