How PRCC calculates your GPA
Your GPA is calculated on a 4-point scale: Grade Point Average = Total Quality Points ÷ Total Hours Attempted.
If you repeat a course you previously took at PRCC, only the highest grade counts toward your cumulative GPA - the repeated attempt is marked either "I" (included in the GPA) or "E" (excluded from it).
Grades of P, Z (CLEP), W (Withdrawn), AU (Audit), and NR (grade not reported) carry no quality points and do not affect your GPA.

Probation and suspension
If you fail to maintain the minimum cumulative GPA for your attempted hours, you are placed on academic probation. If you don't remove the deficiency by the end of the next semester, you're placed on academic suspension and become ineligible to re-enroll for at least one regular semester (Summer doesn't count). Transfer students follow the same standards.
| Hours attempted | Minimum cumulative GPA |
|---|---|
| 0-24 | 1.50 |
| 25-36 | 1.75 |
| 37 & above | 2.00 |
If you re-enroll after suspension, you return on probationary status with one semester to remove the deficiency. Suspension appeals go through the college's academic suspension appeal process at least two weeks before the semester begins.

Minimum GPA to graduate
You need at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA to complete the degree or certificate requirements for any program. Some programs require a higher GPA for graduation - check that program's information in the catalog.

President's List and Dean's List
The President's List recognizes full-time students (15+ hours) with a 4.00 GPA for the previous semester. The Dean's List recognizes full-time students (15+ hours) with a GPA of at least 3.40 but below 4.00 for the previous semester.

Transfer students and GPA
If you transfer to PRCC, your previous college work posted on your PRCC transcript is included in your cumulative GPA. A separate GPA for PRCC coursework only is also shown on your official transcript.
