University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila GPA Calculator

UET Taxila normally grades courses on a relative basis — grades are awarded on a normal-distribution curve with B as the preferred class average, at the course teacher's discretion. The university's regulations also publish a fixed marks-to-letter guideline for absolute grading and project evaluation, shown in the Grade Scale Reference on this page.

There are 9 performance levels across four letter-grade families — 2 “A” levels (A, A−), 3 “B” levels (B+, B, B−), 3 “C” levels (C+, C, C−), and a single D — plus F for fail.

Your Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) is found by multiplying the grade points earned in each course by its credit hours, summing those products across every course taken that semester, then dividing by the total credit hours attempted that semester.

Your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated the same way, but over every course taken in every semester of the degree programme to date.

If you get an F in a course you must repeat it (or an equivalent course). If you get a D, you may choose to repeat the course to improve your grade — up to a maximum of six courses across the whole degree programme. An academically deficient regular student may repeat or improve a maximum of two courses in a Summer semester (if offered) or a regular Fall/Spring semester.

A student is considered academically deficient in a semester if any of the following apply: one or more F grades, one or more Incomplete (I) grades, an SGPA below 1.00 at the end of the 1st semester, or a CGPA below 2.00.

A student who fails to obtain at least 1.0 GPA at the end of the 1st semester is placed on academic probation for the 2nd semester; if their CGPA is still below 1.0 at the end of the 2nd semester, they are removed from the university's rolls (with an official transcript furnished).

An Incomplete (I) grade may be requested when a student misses the end-semester exam or final project for genuine reasons beyond their control. It must be cleared before the next End-Semester Examination begins, or it automatically converts to an F. I grades are not awarded in the Summer Semester.

To be admitted to the degree, a UET Taxila undergraduate must have earned all the credit hours required for the programme within its prescribed duration, obtained pass grades in every course offered in a semester, and passed all semesters with at least a 2.00 CGPA in the relevant discipline.

A UET Taxila graduate is awarded the degree with Honours (recorded on the provisional certificate and the degree itself) if they meet all of the following:

• Obtained a CGPA of 3.70 or more.
• Completed the degree programme within its minimum prescribed duration.
• Never obtained an F grade in any course during the whole programme.
• Never improved (repeated to raise) any grade.
• Never transferred credit from another institution.

A graduate meeting all Honours requirements is also eligible for a medal, awarded for overall best performance.

Credit transfer only applies to students who migrated into UET Taxila from another institution, and only for courses that meet all of these conditions: the credits come from a PEC-accredited programme; the course matches an equivalent UET Taxila course in title, standard, duration, credit hours, and content; the student secured at least a B grade in that course; and no more than 50% of the total credit hours of the relevant programme may be transferred (subject to a transfer fee).

Transferred credits are not included in the CGPA calculation — they appear on the transcript separately, labelled as Transferred Credits.
