How grading works at Hamdard University

Hamdard University assesses each course through several components — quizzes, mid-semester exams, assignments/presentations, practical work or projects, and a final (terminal) examination — combined into one overall mark, which is then converted to a letter grade and grade points on a 0.00–4.00 scale. To pass a course, a student must obtain a minimum of 50 marks in the terminal examination.

Makeup tests are offered to students who miss a mid-semester exam or score below 50% during the semester, but there is no supplementary or special examination in the semester system — a student who fails a course must repeat it.

To graduate, Pharm.D and M.Phil students at the Faculty of Pharmacy must reach a minimum qualifying CGPA of 2.45.

  • Pharm.D: a student must have passed all prescribed courses and obtained a minimum CGPA of 2.45.
