Other Grading Systems
Beyond the standard letter grades, Temple uses two additional non-GPA systems.
Credit/No Credit: CR (equivalent to A through C-), CD (equivalent to D+ through D-, introduced Spring 2020), and NC (equivalent to F) carry no grade points. A limited number of credits earned as CR or CD counts toward total credit hours completed, but not toward GPA.
Other transcript notations carrying no grade points: AU (Audit), I (Incomplete), IC (Incomplete in a Credit/No Credit course), IP (Incomplete pass/fail course), M (Military Leave of Absence), MG (Grade temporarily missing), NR (Grade not reported), P (Passed grade), PI (Permanent incomplete), W (Withdrawal from course), WE (Withdrawal with approved excuse), and WS (Withdrawal from the semester, historical).

How GPA Is Calculated
Semester GPA: the value of each grade is multiplied by the course's credit hours to get quality points; quality points are summed and divided by the total GPA hours completed in courses that yield quality points. Cumulative GPA divides total quality points by total GPA hours the same way.
Although D- is a passing grade, a minimum grade of C- is required in General Education courses and, in many programs, courses required by the major.
No change is made to a student's GPA after the baccalaureate degree is awarded.

Transfer Credit
Credit transferred from other institutions carries no grade points and is not factored into a student's Temple GPA.
