Santiago Canyon College (SCC) GPA Calculator

Grade point average (GPA) is computed by dividing total grade points received by all other units attempted. Credit by examination, Class In Progress (CIP), Incomplete (I), Pass/No Pass (P or NP), Reports Delayed (RD), and Withdrawals (W, EW, or MW) are not figured into the GPA.

Academic standing is calculated at the end of fall and spring semesters, based on SCC/SAC units and cumulative (RSCCD Total) GPA, once a student has attempted 12 or more units. A student is placed on Academic Probation when their RSCCD Total GPA falls below 2.0, and on Progress Probation when W, I, NP, and NC grades reach 50% or more of coursework attempted. Three consecutive semesters below a 2.0 GPA (or below 50% completion) result in academic or progress dismissal, with a one-semester bar on registration at SCC or SAC.

An Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree requires 60 degree-applicable units with at least a 2.0 grade point average in the degree-applicable courses, with at least 12 units earned at Santa Ana College, Santiago Canyon College, or a combination of the two. If units beyond those required for the degree lower a student's cumulative GPA below 2.0, the colleges will compute the GPA using only the courses that satisfy degree requirements. Major-requirement courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better (or "P" on a Pass/No Pass basis, capped at 14 units for the degree).

Graduation honors require at least 30 units of RSCCD coursework, 18 or more at a letter grade of "C" or better, with all RSCCD and transfer coursework computed in the honors GPA. Designations are: With Highest Honors (4.0 GPA), With High Honors (3.8 GPA), and With Honors (3.5 GPA), noted on the transcript and diploma.

Santiago Canyon College grants credit for coursework completed at regionally accredited institutions of higher education, based on official transcripts submitted to Admissions and Records (printed/dated within the last 6 months). Transfer coursework may be used to meet a major requirement by petition, to meet Cal-GETC/Plan 2 certification, or to meet SCC General Education if the course is listed in the college catalog for the academic year it was taken.
