San Juan College (SJC) GPA Calculator

The cumulative GPA divides total grade points earned by total credits attempted in courses graded A, B, C, D, F, or X. Courses graded W, S, U, I, AW, AU, RR, CR, CE, NC, or NR are not counted in the GPA.

If a course is repeated, the highest of the grades earned (A, B, C, D, F, or X) is used for GPA and credit; all grades remain on the transcript but the lower grade is removed from the GPA calculation.

Academic Renewal allows a student with at least 30 attempted credits and a cumulative GPA below 2.0 to exclude D and F grades from the GPA calculation (courses remain listed on the transcript). This option may be used only once and is not reversible.

Students are in Good Academic Standing when both their cumulative and most recent term GPA are 2.00 or higher.

Students are placed on Academic Warning when their term GPA is below 2.00 at the end of any term.

Students are placed on Academic Probation when their cumulative GPA is below 2.00 after completing at least two terms at San Juan College.

Students on Academic Probation move to Limited Academic Enrollment if both their term GPA and cumulative GPA remain below 2.00 at the end of a term; they return to Academic Probation once their term GPA reaches 2.00 or above.

A student must have a cumulative grade point average of C or above for all coursework completed at San Juan College, and a minimum grade point average of 2.0 for all courses counted toward the degree or certificate. Students must earn a grade of C or higher in each core departmental course counted toward the degree or certificate, and a minimum grade of C in any course required as a prerequisite for a subsequent course.

A transfer student must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours at San Juan College with a grade of C or above prior to receiving an Associate degree, with at least 12 of the last 15 credits from the department or major granting the degree.

President's Honor Roll: semester GPA of 3.8 or above with 12 or more credits completed that term.

Vice President's Honor Roll: semester GPA of 3.5 to 3.79 with 12 or more credits completed that term.

Graduation honors, in descending order: Distinguished Scholar (12 honors-course credit hours with a 3.25 GPA or higher in those courses, no grade below a B, and an overall 3.25 GPA or higher); Presidential Honors (cumulative GPA of 3.80 or above, minimum 15 San Juan College credits); Vice Presidential Honors (cumulative GPA of 3.50 to 3.79, minimum 15 San Juan College credits). Diplomas list only the highest honor earned.

Official transcripts received from other institutions are evaluated and posted as credit to the student's San Juan College transcript, but transfer grades themselves are not posted and are not used to calculate the cumulative GPA.
