Grading System Details
All grades are reported by letter without modification of plus or minus.
A grade of Incomplete (I) must be converted to a letter grade within 30 days after the start of the next long semester for courses numbered 0003-4999, or within 90 days for courses numbered 5000-6993; otherwise it becomes an F.
W (withdrawal) and WF (instructor-initiated drop) grades are not computed in the grade point average. CR (credit) and NC (non-credit) grades are likewise not computed in the grade point average.

GPA Computation
GPA is computed by dividing total grade points (quality points) earned at Midwestern State University by total quality hours attempted at Midwestern State University. Developmental courses have been computed in the GPA since Fall 1996.
When a course is repeated at MSU, effective Fall 2001 the higher grade earned is computed in the GPA (all enrollments still appear on the permanent record). A grade of F given for academic dishonesty is always computed in the GPA, even after the course is repeated.

Transfer Credit
Transferred grades are not considered in MSU's GPA computation; transfer students admitted with a grade point deficiency must remove it with grades earned at MSU.
Transfer credit is awarded on a semester-hour scale; quarter hours and other non-semester credit hours are rounded to the nearest whole semester hour (for example, 5 quarter hours is rounded to 3 semester hours).
