Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) GPA Calculator

Students may take up to six credit hours per term under the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory or Pass/Fail grading option, to a lifetime maximum of 15 credit hours. A grade of C or higher counts as Satisfactory/Pass (S/P) and does not affect the GPA; a grade of D or F counts as Unsatisfactory/Fail (U/F) and does affect the GPA.

An Incomplete (I) is temporary: the student must have completed at least 75% of coursework with a grade of C or better, and it converts automatically to an F if not resolved within one subsequent semester (excluding summer). Incompletes carry no grade points and do not affect the GPA while pending.

Audited courses (AU) are not counted in the GPA, attempted hours, or earned hours.

GPA is calculated by multiplying each course's grade points by its credit hours, summing across all courses, and dividing the total grade points by the total credits. Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grades, Incompletes, and Withdrawals are not factored into the GPA.

All college-level courses may be repeated. When a course is repeated, the highest grade earned is used in the GPA calculation; if the same grade is earned twice, the most recent instance counts. Each repeat is marked on the transcript as Include (counted in credit hours and GPA) or Exclude (omitted from both).

Returning students may request a one-time Academic Renewal, excluding up to 30 credit hours of D or F grades from the GPA calculation. Eligibility requires a minimum two-year wait since the last term considered, plus at least 6 completed hours with a 2.00 term GPA. Renewal is not reversible and applies only to D and F grades; excluded grades remain visible on the transcript.

Academic Standing applies to students who have completed 9 or more cumulative credit hours; students below that threshold are monitored instead through an Academic Alert process.

• Good Standing — cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher.
• Performance Support (formerly Academic Probation) — cumulative GPA below 2.00; must raise it to 2.00 by the end of the term or move to Performance Improving or Academic Suspension.
• Returning Support — the return term after an Academic Suspension; same 2.00 requirement as Performance Support.
• Performance Improving (formerly Probation Continuing) — term GPA of at least 2.00 but cumulative GPA still below 2.00; continues each term the 2.00 term GPA is maintained.
• Academic Suspension — term GPA below 2.00 while on Performance Support, Returning Support, or Performance Improving; one term only, with an appeal process to return early.

To graduate from Pikes Peak State College, a student must complete all program requirements, earn at least 15 credits in the declared program while enrolled at PPSC, and maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Term Academic Honors are awarded each term based on term GPA (grades of P and Developmental Education coursework excluded), with a minimum of 6 eligible credit hours:

• Dean's List: 3.50–3.749
• Vice President's List: 3.75–3.99
• President's List: 4.00

Graduation Honors require a cumulative GPA (PPSC coursework only) of at least 3.50 and a minimum of 15 college-level credits completed at PPSC:

• Cum Laude: 3.50–3.749
• Magna Cum Laude: 3.75–3.99
• Summa Cum Laude: 4.00

Courses from regionally accredited institutions are generally accepted in transfer with a grade of C or better (the Transcripts for Transfer section states C- or higher for domestic evaluations); PPSC may accept D grades on a case-by-case basis. International coursework requires a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved agency and a grade of C or better.

A student may petition to replace a substandard PPSC grade with approved transfer credit; if approved, the original grade points are excluded from the cumulative GPA, though the original grade remains on the transcript. Other institutions receiving a PPSC transcript are not required to honor this exclusion and may include all grades when calculating a transfer GPA.
