How the OSU GPA is Calculated
The grade-point average (GPA) is the quotient of total grade points divided by total credits; total credits are the number of term credits in which grades A, B, C, D, and F are received (AR 19).
Marks of I, W, P, N, R, S, U, and AUD are disregarded in the computation of points. Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) and Pass/No Credit (P/N) are alternative grading options for eligible courses; grades of S, U, P, and N have no grade-point equivalents and are never included in the GPA (AR 18).
If a student repeats an OSU course, the grade from each attempt appears on the academic record, but only the second attempt counts toward institutional credits, requirements, and the grade-point average (AR 20).

Academic Standing at OSU
- Academic Warning: a term GPA below 2.0.
- Academic Probation: 24 or more credits attempted at OSU with an OSU cumulative GPA below 2.0; removed once the cumulative GPA reaches 2.0 or better.
- Academic Suspension: a subsequent term GPA below 2.0 while already on Academic Probation.
- Reinstatement: suspended students may be considered after two years, or after completing a minimum of 24 quarter credits of transferable college-level work at a regionally accredited institution with a GPA of 2.5 or above.

GPA Requirement for Graduation
Institutional requirements for a baccalaureate degree include a minimum 2.00 OSU cumulative grade-point average (AR 25). The same minimum 2.00 OSU cumulative GPA applies to a postbaccalaureate degree (AR 26) and to a postbaccalaureate certificate, which additionally requires a minimum 2.0 GPA within the credits applied to the certificate (AR 27).

Honor Roll
At the close of each term, the OSU Registrar publishes an Honor Roll listing undergraduate and postbaccalaureate students who, for that term, achieved a grade-point average of 3.50 or above while completing at least 6 graded credits (AR 21).

Transfer Credit and the OSU GPA
Transfer credits and grades are not used in calculating the OSU GPA (AR 2c). No more than 135 quarter credits of non-OSU coursework can be applied toward a baccalaureate degree's overall credit requirement.
