How grading works at Cal Poly Humboldt

Cal Poly Humboldt grades on a 4.0 scale with a full plus/minus range: A (4.0), A- (3.7), B+ (3.3), B (3.0), B- (2.7), C+ (2.3), C (2.0), C- (1.7), D+ (1.3), D (1.0), and F (0.0). There is no A+ and no D- anywhere in the system.

A WU (Unauthorized Withdrawal) grade is also computed into your GPA at 0.0 grade points, the same as an F — it applies when a student neither officially withdraws nor completes the course requirements.

Several other marks appear on a transcript but carry no grade points and are not computed in your GPA, including AU (Audit), CR (Credit), I (Incomplete), NC (No Credit), RD (Report Delayed), RP (Report in Progress), and W (Official Withdrawal).

How your GPA is calculated at Cal Poly Humboldt

Courses are offered as mandatory letter grade, mandatory credit/no credit, or optional (changeable during the first 12 weeks of a term, limited to one optional credit/no-credit course per semester). No more than 24 semester units of credit-graded coursework count toward a bachelor's degree, and major requirements can't be satisfied on an optional credit/no-credit basis.

For undergraduates, credit means a passing grade of A, B, C, or C-; for graduate and credential-seeking students, it means A, B, or B-. A minimum passing grade of B- is required for courses used to satisfy master's degree requirements.

In your first semester with one or more WU grades, you may petition to have that WU excluded from your GPA calculation — it stays on your transcript, and the units don't count toward the systemwide repeat-unit limits.

Undergraduates who complete at least 12 graded units in a semester are recognized on the Dean's List with a term GPA of 3.50 or higher, or as a Presidential Scholar with a term GPA of 3.85 or higher. Both designations appear on the student's academic transcript.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
Does Cal Poly Humboldt give A+ or D- grades?

No. The top grade is a plain A (4.0), with no A+, and the lowest passing letter is D (1.0), with no D-. The full scale otherwise uses plus/minus grades: A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, F.
