How grading works at FRCC
FRCC grades on a 4.0 scale with quality points assigned per letter grade: A (4), B (3), C (2), D (1), and F (0). FRCC does not use plus/minus grading — there is no A+, A-, B+, or any other modified letter grade in its Grade Definitions.
Beyond the five graded letters, FRCC's catalog defines a range of non-GPA notations: I (Incomplete), P and S (Pass/Satisfactory, “C” or better), W/WX/WD (withdrawal variants), AU (Audit), CR (Credit), IP (In Progress), NC (Non-Credit), and developmental-course-only notations P/A, P/B, P/C, F/D, F/F, and I/F. None of these carry a grade-point value and none factor into the GPA.

How your GPA is calculated at FRCC
Your GPA is calculated by multiplying each course's grade points by its credit hours, totaling both the credits and the grade points separately, then dividing total grade points by total credits.
Developmental-level courses are not calculated in the GPA shown on the FRCC transcript.
All college-level courses may be repeated with no limit on which grades are eligible for repeat. When a course is repeated, the highest grade earned is used in the GPA calculation. If the same grade is earned two or more times for a repeated course, the most recent instance of that grade is the one included in the term and cumulative GPA.

Grade requirements for FRCC degrees and certificates
Students must earn a grade of “C” or better for all courses applied toward an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of General Studies, or Associate of Applied Science degree, and for all courses applied toward any certificate. Some programs may set more restrictive grade or GPA requirements, or limit how many “P” (Pass) credit hours may count toward the credential.
