College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA) GPA Calculator

The College calculates three types of GPA: Term GPA (graded courses for a specific semester only), Institutional GPA (academic work completed at the College of Coastal Georgia), and Cumulative GPA (all academic work attempted over a student's career, including transfer courses). The cumulative GPA is the most comprehensive measure and is the one used to determine academic standing.

When a student repeats a course to earn a higher grade, only the grade from the initial attempt is removed from the institutional GPA and academic standing — even if the repeat attempt earns a lower grade, it is still the initial grade that is removed.

The College requires all students to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be considered in Good Academic Standing. A student who has attempted fewer than 24 credit hours and falls below a 2.0 cumulative GPA is placed on Academic Warning; a student who has attempted at least 24 credit hours and fails to maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA is placed on Academic Probation. A student on Academic Probation who fails to achieve a term GPA of 2.0 is placed on Academic Suspension, which bars enrollment for at least one term and also bars varsity athletics, clubs, financial aid, and college housing during that period.

To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must earn twelve or more credit hours (six or more in summer) in courses at the 1000 level or above and achieve a term GPA of 3.50–3.99; the President's List requires the same credit-hour threshold with a term GPA of 4.00.

Baccalaureate graduation honors are based on overall cumulative GPA: Cum Laude (3.50–3.69), Magna Cum Laude (3.70–3.89), and Summa Cum Laude (3.90–4.00). Associate degree candidates with an overall cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher graduate "With Honors." Credit by examination (DSST, CLEP, AP) and courses specifically excluded by college policy do not count toward the GPA used for graduation honors.

Students transferring academic work from another accredited institution receive credit hours and grades, all shown on the CCGA transcript, though not all transferred courses may count toward specific program requirements. If a student repeats at CCGA a course previously taken at another school, the student may request that the transfer grade be removed from the overall cumulative GPA.
