How GPA Is Calculated

Grade point average is calculated based on the number of credit hours attempted in a course and the grade point value associated with the letter grade earned. The grade points earned in a course equal its credit hours multiplied by the grade's point value; GPA is the sum of grade points earned across all courses divided by total credit hours attempted.

What grading scheme does College of Central Florida (CF) use?
CF uses a percentage-based grading system on a 0.0–4.0 scale with 7 grade levels: A = 4.00 (90–100%), B+ = 3.75 (87–89%), B = 3.00 (80–86%), C+ = 2.75 (77–79%), C = 2.00 (70–76%), D = 1.00 (60–69%), F = 0.00 (0–59.99%).

Do all CF programs use the same grading scale?

No. The scale above applies to most divisions, but certain Health Sciences programs (Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiography, Surgical Services, Emergency Medical Services, Associate Degree Nursing, RN-to-BSN, Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Cardiovascular Technology, and Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technology) and the Criminal Justice Institute use separate percentage-to-letter grading scales with different cutoffs. These program-specific scales do not publish their own grade point values in the catalog.
