How grading works at Citrus College

Citrus College grades on a 4.0 scale with grade points assigned per unit: A (4), B (3), C (2), D (1), and F (0). Grading follows the district's Board-adopted procedure for the evaluation of student performance (AP 4230).

An FW grade ("Failing/Withdrawal," indicating a student ceased participating in a course after the drop date without achieving a final passing grade) also carries 0 grade points and is included in the grading system alongside A–F.

Which grades count toward your GPA at Citrus College

A, B, C, D, F, and FW all carry grade points and count toward your GPA.

These grades and symbols do not count toward your GPA: P (Passing) and NP (No Pass) in courses taken on a Pass/No Pass basis, I (Incomplete), W (Withdrawal), MW (Military Withdrawal), IP (In Progress), RD (Report Delayed), and EW (Excused Withdrawal).

Excessive W grades are still considered as a factor in determining academic standing and progress probation or dismissal, even though they are excluded from the GPA calculation itself.

Academic Renewal at Citrus College

Citrus College offers Academic Renewal, a petition process that disregards previously recorded substandard grades from the GPA calculation without repeating the course, for students pursuing graduation, a certificate, or transfer.

  • Only substandard grades of D, F, FW, NC, or NP can be disregarded, and only units taken at Citrus College.
  • A maximum of 24 units from up to three terms may be alleviated.
  • At least 18 months must have elapsed since the substandard term.
  • A minimum of 15 units (at a 3.0 GPA), 30 units (2.5 GPA), or 45 units (2.0 GPA) of subsequent college-level work must be completed first.
  • A student may be granted academic renewal only once, and other institutions are not obligated to honor it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at Citrus College?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at Citrus College?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Citrus College GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
Does an FW grade affect my GPA at Citrus College?

Yes. FW ("Failing/Withdrawal," assigned when a student ceased participating in a course after the drop date without achieving a passing grade) carries 0 grade points and counts toward your GPA the same way an F does. A plain W (Withdrawal, filed before the drop deadline) carries no grade points and is excluded from the GPA.

Does Citrus College use plus/minus grading?

No. Citrus College's grading table lists only whole-letter grades — A, B, C, D, F, and FW — worth 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, and 0 grade points respectively. No A+, A-, B+, or other modified letter grades appear in the district's grading policy.

Can a substandard grade be removed from my GPA at Citrus College?

Yes, under Academic Renewal. Substandard grades of D, F, FW, NC, or NP earned at Citrus College can be disregarded from your GPA computation through a one-time petition process, once specific unit, time-elapsed, and subsequent-GPA criteria are met.
