Augusta University (AU) GPA Calculator

Augusta University grades on a 4.00-point scale: A (4.00), B (3.00), C (2.00), D (1.00), and F (0.00). There is no A+ — A is the top of the scale.

GPAs are calculated and truncated (not rounded) to two decimal places.

A grade of WF (Withdrawal Failing) is also on the scale at 0.00 and is "treated the same as F grades for grade point average calculations."

Augusta University tracks a Term GPA (one semester) and an Institutional GPA (cumulative, all AU coursework) — both are used to determine academic standing.

If you retake a course not designated as repeatable, only the grade from your latest attempt counts toward your Institutional GPA, though every attempt stays on your transcript. Students may also petition for grade substitution — removing an earlier, lower grade from the Institutional GPA — once per course, up to four times in an undergraduate career.

Any undergraduate student whose Institutional GPA falls below 2.00 at the end of a semester is placed on academic probation. Minimum GPA standards to continue depend on progression level (credit hours earned):

Students who fail to meet these minimums are suspended for at least one semester.

Bachelor's degree candidates must complete at least 120 semester hours, including a minimum of 39 hours of upper-division coursework (numbered 3000 or above), and earn a grade of C or better in each course required for the major.

An Institutional GPA of at least 2.00 on all AU coursework is required to graduate (or an Academic Renewal GPA of at least 2.00, for students who qualify for academic renewal).

Undergraduate degrees are awarded with Latin honors based on GPA (minimum 60 semester hours in residence required):

• Summa Cum Laude: 3.90–4.00 GPA
• Magna Cum Laude: 3.70–3.89 GPA
• Cum Laude: 3.50–3.69 GPA

Each semester, undergraduates with a 4.00 GPA (12+ hours, no F or WF) make the President's List; those with at least a 3.50 GPA make the Dean's List.

Transfer coursework must come from an institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the U.S. Department of Education (or, for institutions outside the U.S., an approved credential evaluation service).

Students must complete at least 25% of degree credits in residence at AU, including a minimum of 30 hours numbered 3000 or above. A maximum of 62 hours from a community college may count toward a degree.
