How RCBC computes your GPA
Only credit-course letter grades (A, B+, B, C+, C, D, F) carry grade points and count toward your GPA. Symbols such as PL, PS, I, AU, W, AW, NA, SR and ST are non-numerical and are never computed into the GPA, even though they remain on your permanent record.
Developmental courses (numbered below 100) carry no grade points and are not computed into your GPA, though they do count toward enrollment status.
If you repeat a course, every attempt stays on your record, but only your highest grade in that course is computed into your cumulative GPA. Credit hours for a repeated course count only once toward graduation requirements, no matter how many times you take it.

Academic standing at RCBC
Good academic standing requires a GPA of 2.0 or higher. If your cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 and your completion rate drops below 66.67%, you are placed on Early Warning status in your first affected semester, then Academic Probation (with a 13-credit/semester limit and restrictions on online/accelerated courses) if it continues.
You are removed from probation once your cumulative GPA reaches 2.0 or higher and your completion rate reaches 66.7% or higher; returning to probation later restarts the cycle. If your semester GPA is still below 2.0 after a probation semester, you move to dismissal or pre-dismissal status, and re-enrolling in credit courses afterward requires Academic Standards Committee approval.

Dean's List
To make the Dean's List in a given fall or spring semester, you need a declared major, at least 12 college-level credits with no grade lower than a C, and a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher. College Acceleration Program (C.A.P.) courses do not count toward it, and a break in enrollment of two or more semesters restarts the Dean's List calculation.

Does RCBC use a different grading scale for the Rowan University 3+1 program?
Yes, but only for a narrow group. Junior-year professional-level courses in the RCBC-Rowan University 3+1 Inclusive Education program use a separate letter/point scale (A=4, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, B=3, B-=2.7, C+=2.3, C=2, C-=1.7, D+=1.3, D=1, D-=0.7, F=0), adopted specifically to align with Rowan University's own grading system and New Jersey State teacher-education requirements. All other RCBC courses, including any non-professional-level courses taken in that same junior year, use RCBC's standard scale shown above.
