Grading System at Grayson College

Grayson College uses a letter-grade system on a 0.00–4.00 scale: A (4 grade points per semester hour), B (3), C (2), D (1), and F (0). There is no A+ or other plus/minus variant.

Several other notations appear on GC transcripts but carry no grade points and are not counted in your GPA: I (Incomplete), W (Withdrew), P (Passing), S (Satisfactory, non-degree courses), U (Unsatisfactory, non-degree courses), AU (Audit), and T_ transfer-credit grades (TA/TB/TC/TD).

How Grayson College Calculates GPA

The GPA is computed by dividing the total number of grade points earned by the total number of semester hours attempted. Grades of I, W, P, S, U, AU, and F earned in pass/fail courses are excluded from GPA calculation, as are grades earned in developmental courses.

Effective the 2020-2021 academic year, when a course is repeated, only the highest grade is used in the cumulative GPA, although all attempts remain listed on the transcript.

Academic Standing

A student is in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher. A student is placed on Academic Warning when the cumulative GPA falls below 2.00 for one long semester, and on Academic Probation when it remains below 2.00 for more than one long semester.

Graduation Eligibility

To be eligible for graduation, at least 25% of the semester credit hours in any degree or certificate program must be earned at Grayson College.

President's and Dean's Lists

Grayson College's President's List and Dean's List are awarded at the end of the fall and spring semesters to students enrolled in at least 12 hours at GC that semester. The President's List requires a 4.0 GPA; the Dean's List requires a 3.75–3.99 GPA. Developmental courses, incomplete courses, credit awards, and courses graded W or P do not count toward the 12-hour full-time requirement for this honor.

Transfer and Credit-Award Grades

Transfer credit is recorded with a "T" prefix followed by the grade from the transferring institution (TA, TB, TC, TD); these grades are not calculated into Grayson College's cumulative GPA, though they are used in Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) calculations. Credit earned through credit award (including military credit award) is recorded as a grade of P, which carries no grade points and is not counted in the GPA.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at GC?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at GC?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Grayson College (GC) GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
