Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) GPA Calculator

Oregon Tech's GPA is the quotient of total grade points divided by total credit hours attempted, and the result is truncated rather than rounded. Grades of "I" (Incomplete), "IP" (In Progress), "N" (Audit), "NP" (No Pass), "P" (Pass), "W" (Withdrawn) and "Z" (No Grade Assigned) are disregarded when calculating GPA; a "P" is treated as equivalent to a "C" or better and an "NP" as equivalent to a "D" or "F" for pass/fail purposes.

Under the Repeat Policy, a student may attempt the same course up to four times. Only the first two earned grades are excluded from the GPA when a course is repeated; the last grade earned is used on the application for degree, and all attempts remain on the transcript. Under Academic Forgiveness, an undergraduate with an unsatisfactory record may petition, once only, to drop up to three consecutive terms of coursework from their GPA.

Students with a term and cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above are in Good Standing. Undergraduates who have attempted 12 or more Oregon Tech credits and fall below a 2.0 term or cumulative GPA (or complete two consecutive terms with no earned credits) are placed on Academic Notice; a subsequent term GPA below 2.0 leads to Academic Disqualification. Graduate students follow an Academic Warning → Academic Probation → Academic Suspension sequence at the same 2.0 thresholds (undergraduates used this same terminology prior to Academic Year 2026-27). Credits transferred in from other institutions are not included in the institutional cumulative GPA.

Oregon Tech requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 for graduation. Degree-seeking students must also complete a minimum share of their credits at Oregon Tech itself: 5 term-credit hours for a certificate, 30 for an associate degree, 45 for a bachelor's degree, and 12 for a master's degree.

Undergraduates who complete a minimum of 75 Oregon Tech GPA credit hours are eligible for academic honors at Commencement, based on cumulative GPA:

• Cum Laude: 3.50–3.74
• Magna Cum Laude: 3.75–3.89
• Summa Cum Laude: 3.90–4.00

Oregon Tech accepts transfer credit from institutions regionally accredited by a CHEA-recognized body (non-accredited coursework may instead be credited via portfolio, competency demonstration, or course challenge exam). A grade of D or better is generally required for a course to transfer, though many departments require a C or better for prerequisite or graduation purposes. CLEP and Advanced Placement (AP) credit combined may not exceed 25% of the credits used toward a degree, and International Baccalaureate Higher Level exam scores of 5 or better are eligible for credit.
