Midland College (MC) GPA Calculator

MC grades on a 4.0 scale with five letter grades: A (4), B (3), C (2), D (1), and F (0).

There is no A+ and no plus/minus grading at all — A itself, at 4.0, is the top of the scale.

Several marks appear on a transcript but carry no grade points and are not included in your GPA: P (Pass for P/F Option), I (Incomplete), W (Withdrew Officially), AU (Audit), CR (Credit for Examination, Licensure/Certification, or Military Training), and N (No Grade Reported).

Your GPA is computed by dividing the total number of credit hours accumulated by the total number of credit hours attempted. Grades of “W” are not included in the calculation, and Incomplete grades are excluded until a final grade is recorded.

If you repeat a course, only your highest grade counts toward your overall GPA.

You're in good scholastic standing with no prior academic record at MC, or with a current-term GPA of 2.0 or above in your most recent regular semester.

A current-term GPA below 2.0 places you on Academic Alert, limiting enrollment to 12 credit hours unless your Pathways Advisor approves more. Two or more consecutive terms below 2.0 move you to Academic Intervention, limiting enrollment to 6 credit hours unless approved.

You return to good standing once you complete six semester hours with a 2.0 GPA in a single term.

You must apply to have your degree, certificate, or other credential conferred, during the semester before you complete your required coursework; an application is required to participate in the commencement ceremony, though MC will award credentials upon completion of requirements regardless of submission of an application to graduate.

You may participate in commencement without having finished all requirements if you lack six credit hours or fewer for an associate's or bachelor's degree (or one course for a certificate) and have met all non-course requirements.

The honor roll is published after the fall and spring semesters for full-time and part-time students enrolled in six or more credit hours: a semester GPA of 4.0 earns the President's List, and 3.50–3.99 earns the Dean's List. Only college-level coursework counts toward this GPA.

At graduation, a GPA of 3.5–3.99 earns Honors and 4.0 earns High Honors, calculated using all college-level MC courses.

MC partners with area universities on transfer agreements designed for a seamless transfer experience, including special admissions coordination, early degree planning, upper-level advising access, and — where applicable — retroactive award of an MC associate degree once upper-level credit transfers back.
