Grades Used at Temple College
Temple College awards eight grades: A (Excellent), B (Good), C (Fair), D (Pass), F (Failure), W (Withdrawal), XF (Failure due to academic dishonesty), and I (Incomplete). A grade of at least D is required to pass a course, though some Associate of Applied Science major courses do not award D and instead grade only A, B, C, or F. An incomplete (I) not resolved within 30 business days of the last class date automatically becomes an F.

How GPA Is Calculated
Grade point average is calculated by dividing total grade points earned by the number of semester hours attempted that count toward the GPA. Withdrawal (W) and Incomplete (I) grades are not counted as hours attempted and do not affect GPA.
Students may repeat a course; when they do, only the credit hours and grade points from the attempt with the highest grade count toward the overall GPA, and the lower attempt is excluded. A punitive grade (F or I) cannot be erased by repeating the course and finishing with a non-punitive W: the original attempt still counts toward the GPA.

Transfer Credit and GPA
Temple College accepts transfer hours with a grade of D or above as transfer credit, but those grades do not affect the Temple College cumulative GPA — only coursework taken at Temple College counts toward it.
