Rose State College (RSC) GPA Calculator

Grade points are computed by multiplying the number of points a grade carries by the number of credit hours in the course. The grade point average (GPA) is found by adding the grade points earned for all courses and dividing by the total number of applicable credit hours attempted.

Grades of I (Incomplete), N (Grade Not Reported), W (Withdrawn), S (Satisfactory), U (Unsatisfactory), AU (Audit) and AW (Administrative Withdrawal) are not computed in the GPA.

Student grades are evaluated solely on an academic basis — attendance, demonstrated knowledge of course content, completion of assigned coursework, participation, and academic performance — never on opinions, beliefs, or conduct unrelated to academic requirements.

Students may repeat any course up to 4 attempts; only the highest grade earned of those attempts counts toward the GPA. All attempts remain on the transcript.

Academic Reprieve lets a student with extraordinary circumstances disregard up to two semesters from the GPA calculation, provided they had already earned a 2.0 GPA or higher with no grade below a “C” (minimum 12 hours, excluding activity/performance courses) before requesting it. Reprieved courses stay on the transcript but are excluded from the GPA and cannot be used to fulfill credit-hour requirements.

Academic Renewal lets a returning student (at least 3 years since their last renewed semester) exclude all coursework taken before a specified date from the GPA, under the same prior 2.0-GPA/no-grade-below-C eligibility test. Renewed coursework stays on the transcript but counts toward neither GPA nor degree/graduation credit-hour requirements.

Effective Fall 1993, students must maintain a minimum GPA to remain in good standing: 1.7 for students who have attempted 0–29 semester credit hours, and 2.0 for students who have attempted more than 29 hours. Freshmen (fewer than 30 hours) with a GPA between 1.7 and 2.0 are placed on Freshman Academic Notice.

• Good — meets the retention requirement.
• Academic Notice — not making normal progress; may face added limits on academic load and is required to use academic support services.
• Academic Probation — has failed to maintain the required GPA; must obtain Registrar permission to enroll and meet with an advisor.
• Academic Suspension — failed to meet the required GPA while on probation; barred from enrolling for a minimum of one 16-week Fall or Spring semester.

Students on Academic Notice or Probation, and transfer students admitted on probation, must complete EDUC 1103 College & Life Strategies. First-time suspended students may petition for reinstatement after one 16-week semester; students suspended a second time may seek reinstatement after one year and evidence of academic success elsewhere.

The Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees require a minimum of 60 credit hours at the 1000 level or higher with at least a 2.0 GPA on courses presented for graduation; at least a “C” grade is required in every Program Requirements course, and some programs also require a minimum “C” in the Support and Related section.

The Bachelor of Applied Technology degree requires a minimum of 120 hours at the 1000 level or higher, including general education courses and the designated program and Support and Related requirements.

Students completing 12 or more credit hours in a semester with a grade average of “B” (3.0) or better qualify for an Honor Roll. The President's Honor Roll requires a 4.0 GPA; the Provost & Vice President's Honor Roll requires a 3.0–3.99 GPA with no course grade below a “C” in college-level or developmental courses. The same standards apply to part-time students enrolled in 6–11 hours and, at a 6-hour threshold, to the Summer session. Grades of S and U are GPA-neutral and are not counted toward the average.

Coursework from institutionally-accredited colleges is accepted for transfer, though not all credit necessarily applies toward degree requirements; a “D” grade may not satisfy a degree or prerequisite requirement where the catalog specifies a higher grade is needed. Courses from institutions participating in the Oklahoma Course Equivalency Project transfer as guaranteed on the State Regents' Transfer Matrix.

Credit from institutions on a non-semester calendar is converted to semester hours, and grade points earned under any system other than a 4.0 scale are converted to the 4.0 system. Transcripts from unaccredited colleges may be evaluated per State Regents' policy and AACRAO guidance.
