How grading works at Minneapolis College

The default grade method for college-level courses (numbered 1000 or higher) is the standard letter scale of A, B, C, D, or F — Minneapolis College's Policy 3.08 defines a letter grade as exactly one of these five, with no plus or minus variants. Certain courses, such as select internships, use a different grade method. Where a course offers an alternate method, department faculty may petition to add Pass/No Credit (P/NC) as an option; as of Spring Semester 2025 the College no longer offers a Pass/Fail option.

What counts toward your GPA

Only the letter grades A, B, C, D, and F are calculated into a student's GPA at Minneapolis College. Grades of P (Pass), NC (No Credit), I (Incomplete), NA (never attended), NW (stopped participating), W (Withdrawal), AU (Audit), and Z (in progress) are all excluded from GPA calculations, though most still count toward attempted-credit measures used for academic and financial aid satisfactory progress. An Honors Option notation (H) accompanies a letter grade without affecting the GPA.

Students who have not registered for courses at the College for at least five consecutive years may petition, after completing 12 college-level credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA, to have their prior grades and credits excluded from their cumulative GPA under Academic Forgiveness. This may be requested only once, applies only to grades earned after 1995, and applies only to the College's own GPA — transfer institutions and selective-admissions programs may choose not to honor it.

Dean's List

A student who completes 9 or more college-level credits in a semester with a semester GPA of 3.0 or greater is placed on the Dean's List. Credits below course number 1000, credits taken Pass/No Credit or for audit, credits from a withdrawn course, and credits currently in incomplete status do not count toward Dean's List eligibility.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at Minneapolis Community and Technical College?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at Minneapolis Community and Technical College?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Minneapolis Community and Technical College GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
