How grading works at Chemeketa
Chemeketa grades on a 4.0 scale with five letter grades: A (4), B (3), C (2), D (1), and F (0).
There is no A+ and no plus/minus grading at all — A itself, at 4.0, is the top of the scale.
Incomplete grades (IB, IC, ID, IF) and Pass/No Pass (P, NP) are not computed into your GPA, even though a placeholder value is recorded for them. An Incomplete reverts to the letter grade specified in your instructor's contract if the work isn't finished by the deadline.

How your GPA is calculated at Chemeketa
Your GPA is computed by dividing your total points earned by your total credit hours — excluding credit hours from Incomplete, Pass, No Pass, and Prior Learning grades.
If you repeat a course (Summer 2020 or later), only your latest attempt with the highest grade counts toward your credit hours, degree, and GPA — every attempt still shows on your transcript, marked as repeated.

Academic standing at Chemeketa
You're in Good Standing with a cumulative and term GPA of 2.00 or higher.
You're placed on Academic Warning if your term GPA falls below 2.00, or if you've attempted 1–36 credits with a cumulative GPA below 2.00.
You move to Academic Probation after a further below-2.00 term with 18+ credits attempted while already on Warning or Probation, or once you've attempted 37 or more credits with a cumulative GPA still below 2.00.
You're placed on Academic Suspension — administratively dropped for at least one term — once you're on Probation with 37+ attempted credits and both your term and cumulative GPA are below 2.00.

Transferring credit to and from Chemeketa
Credit from other regionally-accredited colleges or universities may be accepted toward your degree requirements, but the hours are recorded without the grades counting toward your Chemeketa GPA.
Chemeketa also accepts credit through Advanced Placement, CLEP, Credit for Professional Certification, International Baccalaureate, Military Service Credit, and Prior Learning Portfolio — none of this alternate-credit is calculated into your cumulative GPA (except Challenge Exams).
