Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) GPA Calculator

Beyond the standard A-F letter grades, CCBC transcripts also use several administrative indicators that carry no separate quality-point value: S (Satisfactory completion), R (Progress toward course completion), U (Unsatisfactory performance), AU (Audit), I (Incomplete), W (Withdrawal), CR/PR (Credit by Examination or Credit by Portfolio), FX (Insufficient Active Engagement and Attendance), and RF (Academic Renewal).

GPA is calculated only from A, B, C, D, and F grades: quality points divided by hours attempted. S, U, W, and AU grades are excluded. Term GPA reflects a single term's grades; cumulative GPA combines all grades earned at CCBC, including both Undergraduate (Summer 1999 onward) and Legacy (pre-Summer 1999) transcripts. Transfer credit from other institutions carries no numeric value in the GPA.

When a course is repeated, only the higher grade counts toward the GPA.

A student whose cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 (2.75 for the Associate of Arts in Teaching) is placed on Academic Caution and must create an Individualized Success Plan with an academic advisor; standing returns to Good Standing once the cumulative GPA rises to 2.0 or above. A Caution student who earns below 2.0 in a subsequent semester moves to Academic Warning; a Warning student who again earns below 2.0 moves to Academic Restriction, which continues until the cumulative GPA reaches 2.0 or above.

Associate degrees, additional associate degrees, certificates, and Letters of Recognition all require a minimum GPA of 2.0, except the Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.), which requires 2.75. An associate degree also requires at least 15 credits earned at CCBC and completion of the program's General Education requirements.

The Dean's List recognizes students with a GPA of at least 3.5 over the last 12 credits attempted, with no D or F earned during that period. Graduating students receive Latin honors based on cumulative GPA: Cum Laude (3.40-3.59), Magna Cum Laude (3.60-3.79), and Summa Cum Laude (3.80-4.00). Completing the Honors College requires at least 12 Honors credits and an overall GPA of 3.0 or better.

Transfer credit is accepted for a course previously attempted at CCBC only when the student's earned CCBC grade was below a C (D, F, W, AU, R, or I). While the transfer grade itself carries no numeric GPA value, accepting it excludes the original CCBC grade from the GPA calculation; the transferred credit still counts toward degree or program requirements.
