Academic Probation and Suspension

Minimum satisfactory academic progress at EICC is a cumulative 2.0 GPA. If your GPA falls below 2.0, you may be placed on academic probation and will work with an academic advisor to develop a plan of action, which may include a restriction on credit hours and additional developmental requirements.

Full-time students (after the add/drop period) must successfully complete at least 8 credit hours; students enrolled for 6-11 credit hours must successfully complete at least 6 credit hours, or may be placed on academic probation.

If you don't achieve the minimum standards by the end of a probationary term, EICC may recommend additional corrective steps or academic suspension. After a one-term absence for suspension (not including summer session), you may be readmitted on probation.

GPA Requirements for Graduation

Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS): complete at least 62 credit hours with a cumulative 2.0 GPA or better.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS), diploma, or certificate: a minimum 2.0 GPA in your award major. Diploma programs (fewer than 49 but more than 31 credit hours) and certificates (fewer than 32 credit hours) require the same 2.0 GPA minimum in the award major.

Academic Honors

Each term, EICC recognizes outstanding academic success: complete 6 or more credit hours in a term with a 4.0 GPA to make the President's List, or with a 3.5 GPA or better to make the Dean's List. Incomplete or blank grades disqualify a student from either list.

Honor Graduates: earn a cumulative 3.5 GPA in all coursework required for graduation to receive honors.

EICC accepts transfer credit from colleges and universities accredited by the Higher Learning Commission or its regional counterparts, evaluated on a course-by-course basis for graduation requirements. Transfer grades are not used in your EICC grade point average.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save my semesters and track my CGPA at EICC?
Yes. After you calculate a semester's GPA, click "Save as semester" to add it to the built-in CGPA tracker, which then computes your cumulative GPA across every saved semester using the standard weighted formula (Σ SGPA × credits ÷ Σ credits). You can save semesters by course (full breakdown) or quick-add a past semester with just the SGPA and credit hours. Locking, renaming, and deleting saved semesters are all supported, and the tracker shows a running CGPA plus a trend arrow versus your previous semester.
How do I convert SGPA to CGPA at EICC?
Your CGPA is the credit-weighted average of every semester's SGPA. The formula is: CGPA = (SGPA₁ × credits₁ + SGPA₂ × credits₂ + … + SGPAₙ × creditsₙ) ÷ (credits₁ + credits₂ + … + creditsₙ). On this page, add each semester to the CGPA tracker (either by course or as a quick SGPA + credit-hours entry) and the calculator runs the conversion for you on every save, edit, and delete — no manual arithmetic required.
Can I add past semester GPAs without entering every course?
Yes. On the My CGPA Tracker tab, click "Add semester" and choose the quick-add option. You enter just the SGPA and the credit hours for that semester — no course-by-course breakdown required. It works as a GPA calculator with previous semesters support, or as a GPA calculator without course details when you only remember the SGPA from your transcript. Quick-added and course-by-course semesters can be mixed freely; both contribute to your CGPA using the same credit-weighted formula.
Is my CGPA tracker data sent to your servers?
No. Your saved semesters are stored locally in your browser only — nothing is transmitted to GPAWise. A "Clear all tracker data" button is always available on the tracker tab to wipe the data on demand.
Is this Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) GPA calculator free?
Yes — GPAWise is completely free to use. There's no signup, no paywall, and your inputs stay in your browser.
