How grading works at Baltimore City Community College
BCCC grades on a 4.0 scale with five letter grades: A (4), B (3), C (2), D (1), and F (0). A P (Passing) grade is also worth 0 grade points on BCCC's own grade-point table.
Several other marks appear on a BCCC transcript but carry no grade-point value: AP (Advanced Placement credit), AU (Audit), CL (CLEP credit), EX (Exemption), FX (Never Attended), I (Incomplete), S/U (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory, non-credit courses only), and W (Withdrawal).

How your GPA is calculated at BCCC
Your cumulative grade point average is determined by dividing the number of credits attempted into quality points earned.
For example, a student earning B in a 3-credit course, C in a 3-credit course, C in another 3-credit course, B in a 4-credit course, and B in a 3-credit course accumulates 42 quality points over 16 attempted credits — a 2.63 GPA (42 / 16).

Auditing a course at BCCC
With the necessary prerequisites and the Associate Dean's written approval, you can audit a course on a space-available basis. You won't be evaluated for a course grade and won't receive credit, but tuition and fees are the same as for a credit course, and Financial Aid does not cover audited courses.
You must declare audit status at registration, and can only switch between audit and credit status during the Add/Drop period. Since no credits are earned, audited courses are not computed in your grade point average.

Graduation and scholastic honors at BCCC
Graduation Honors (associate degree): High Honors requires an overall GPA of 3.75 or above; Honors requires 3.25 to 3.749.
Scholastic Honors are awarded each semester to students with a GPA of 3.0 or above, at least 12 credits that semester, no grade lower than D or S, and all credits earned at BCCC: Distinguished Scholar (semester GPA 3.5 and above) or Meritorious Scholar (semester GPA 3.0 to 3.499). These are noted on the official transcript.
