Fayetteville State University (FSU) GPA Calculator

Your GPA is calculated by dividing your total quality points by your total GPA hours. GPA hours are the credit hours for courses in which you earned a final letter grade of A, B, C, D, or F. Withdrawals and incompletes do not affect your GPA hours, but courses graded F are calculated into your GPA.

If you repeat a course taken at FSU, the lower grade is excluded from your institutional GPA and the higher grade is included, up to a maximum of 16 credit hours of repeats without penalty (a course cannot be repeated for grade replacement more than once). Beyond that limit, or on a second repeat of the same course, all attempted hours and grades are calculated into your GPA, though you can only earn credit once for the course.

Academic standing is evaluated at the end of every fall, spring, and summer term.

• Good Standing — cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
• Probation — cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 at the end of a term following good standing.
• Suspension — cumulative GPA remains below 2.0 for two consecutive terms of enrollment, including summer.

The minimum GPA required for any baccalaureate degree at Fayetteville State University is 2.0. Bachelor's degree programs require a minimum of 120 semester credit hours. Students become eligible to apply for graduation once they have earned 90 or more credit hours.

Students who complete at least 15 semester hours in a term with no incomplete grades may be recognized:

• Chancellor's List — GPA of 3.75 or higher.
• Deans' List — GPA of 3.2 to 3.74.

Baccalaureate graduates who have earned a minimum of 45 credit hours at Fayetteville State University (transfer hours excluded) may graduate with distinction:

• Summa Cum Laude — scholastic average of 3.800–4.000.
• Magna Cum Laude — scholastic average of 3.500–3.799.
• Cum Laude — scholastic average of 3.200–3.499.

Transfer coursework accepted by Fayetteville State University is not calculated into your institutional GPA. Grades earned at other institutions are not eligible for GPA replacement under the course repeat policy, though equivalent transfer credit hours may still count toward degree applicability.
