Cuyamaca College GPA Calculator

Grade point average (GPA) is computed by dividing total units attempted into total grade points earned. Courses graded P (Pass) or NP (No Pass), and symbols W, EW, MW, I, IP, and RD, are not used in the GPA computation.

Under the Academic Renewal policy, when previously recorded coursework is not reflective of a student's present demonstrated ability, alleviated courses remain on the academic record but are excluded from the GPA computation. Academic renewal does not provide an exception to the course repetition policy.

Under Course Repetition, when a course is repeated to alleviate substandard work (a D, F, or NP grade, or a W), only the last grade earned is included in determining GPA; only those units count toward graduation.

A student who has attempted at least 12 semester units at the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District (GCCCD) and whose cumulative GPA falls below 2.0 in courses receiving letter grades ("W" courses excluded) is placed on academic probation. A student who has enrolled in at least 12 semester units at GCCCD is placed on lack-of-progress probation when 50 percent or more of cumulative units are "W," "I," or "NP."

A student on academic probation is removed once cumulative GPA at GCCCD reaches 2.0; a student on lack-of-progress probation is removed once "W"/"I"/"NP" units drop below 50 percent of units attempted.

A student on academic probation whose semester GPA falls below 2.0 is academically dismissed; a student on lack-of-progress probation is dismissed under the equivalent 50-percent test. A student dismissed from a college within GCCCD may not attend any college in the district for the next consecutive semester (dismissal following the spring term still permits summer-session attendance), and may petition the Admissions and Records Office for reinstatement.

Students who earn a 3.5 or better GPA in all degree-applicable college work attempted graduate with honors.

Students carrying 12 or more letter-graded units at Cuyamaca College ("Pass" grades not included) who maintain a 4.0 GPA in a semester are placed on the President's List; those who maintain a 3.5–3.9 GPA are placed on the Vice President's List. Students carrying fewer than 12 units at Cuyamaca alone, but 12 or more combined with Grossmont College, qualify for the equivalent District President's/Vice President's List on the same GPA terms. Part-time students who complete 12 units at Cuyamaca College within one academic year (July 1 – June 30) with a 3.5 GPA or better, while enrolled in fewer than 12 units per semester, are also eligible for the Vice President's List.
