Alongside the standard A–F letter grades, Crafton Hills College also records several non-evaluative symbols that are not counted in GPA calculations: P (Pass, at least Satisfactory), NP (No Pass), W (Withdrawal), EW (Excused Withdrawal), MW (Military Withdrawal), I (Incomplete), IP (In Progress, for classes continuing across semesters), and RD (Report Delayed).

GPA is calculated by multiplying the units attempted for each course by the numerical grade value earned, summing the grade points, and dividing by total units attempted. Only courses with a printed grade-point value (A, B, C, D, F) count toward the GPA.

A student who receives a substandard grade (D or F) may repeat the course to alleviate that grade from the GPA computation, subject to conditions: each substandard grade may be repeated up to twice (three attempts total), a course already repeated twice is no longer eligible for alleviation, the repeated course must be equivalent in content and unit value, and no more than two substandard grades may be alleviated in total. A course in which a grade of C or better was received may not be repeated for alleviation. The permanent academic record remains fully legible showing all attempts.

Quarter units convert to semester units at a rate of 1 quarter unit = 0.667 semester units.

A student is placed on Academic Notice after attempting at least 12 units with a cumulative GPA below 2.0 for all work attempted at Crafton Hills College. A student is placed on Progress Notice after enrolling in at least 12 units with a “W,” “I,” or “NP” recorded in 50% or more of cumulative units attempted.

A student on Academic Notice returns to good standing once their cumulative GPA reaches 2.0 or higher for all units attempted at the college. A student on Progress Notice returns to good standing once the percentage of W/I/NP units drops below 50%. Continued notice status can lead to dismissal; students on notice face impacts to priority registration until required activities are completed.

The Dean's List is prepared each fall and spring semester for students who complete 12 or more units in that semester with a semester (not cumulative) GPA of 3.5 or above, using only units earned at Crafton Hills College.

Students graduating with a cumulative GPA of 3.50–3.99 are recognized as graduating with Distinction; a cumulative GPA of 4.0 earns Highest Distinction. Credits from other institutions count toward the cumulative GPA used for these graduation honors. Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher at the end of the preceding fall term may participate in the Commencement Ceremony with distinction and wear a gold sash, provided they maintain a 3.50+ cumulative GPA through the term they apply to graduate.

Crafton Hills College accepts transfer credit only from institutions accredited by a recognized regional accrediting body (e.g. WASC-ACCJC, WASC-ACSCU, NWCCU, HLC, NEASC-CIHE, SACS, MSA). Credit is not accepted from technical/career colleges, non-accredited institutions, or institutions only pending accreditation, and graduate-level coursework is not accepted for transfer.

Pre-baccalaureate courses from a regionally accredited four-year institution apply toward Associate Degree requirements when deemed equivalent under Title 5 §55805.5. Upper-division courses may be granted elective or major credit at the discretion of Admissions & Records or the relevant discipline, and courses may apply to Cal-GETC requirements.
