Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) GPA Calculator

MUET uses an absolute grading system: your letter grade is set by fixed percentage cut-offs published in the university's Regulations, not by how your class performs — there is no curve, and your result depends only on your own marks in each theory, practical, or project component.

The scale runs from A+ down to F across eight graded bands — narrower than the ten- or eleven-grade tables many other Pakistani universities use, with no separate D or D+ grade. Every band is a clean, non-overlapping run of whole-number percentages covering 0% to 100% with no gaps, so every possible mark maps to exactly one grade.

Results are always prepared on the basis of the Grade Point Average, and any fractional mark is rounded to a whole number before it is graded.

MUET reports a semester GPA and a Cumulative GPA (CGPA), both on a 0.00–4.00 scale ("a standard scale of 0.00 to 4.00 is adopted"). Both are credit-hour weighted:

• GPA = the sum, across a semester's courses, of (Course Credit Hours × Grade Point Earned), divided by the total credit hours taken that semester.
• CGPA = the same sum across every semester taken so far, divided by the total credit hours taken across all semesters.

A four-credit course therefore moves your average twice as far as a two-credit course.

For transcript purposes only, MUET also publishes a fixed CGPA-to-percentage equivalence table (this is separate from the per-course grading scale above, and only used when a percentage figure needs to appear on a transcript):

Withdrawing a course. Students may withdraw from a course during the first six weeks of the semester. That course is recorded as W on the transcript and has no impact on your CGPA. Withdrawing after the sixth week is different: you are automatically awarded an F grade, which does count in the GPA and stays on the transcript.

Repeating a failed course. An F grade requires you to repeat the course — the earlier F stays on the transcript alongside the new attempt.

Repeating to improve. Undergraduates may repeat any course graded C or below to improve it. Both the previous and new grade are recorded on the transcript, but only the better grade counts toward your CGPA; an improvement is marked (Imp) on the transcript.

Probation. You are placed on probation if you fail any course in a semester, or if you pass every course but your semester GPA is below 1.7 out of 4.00. Students on probation must register for the summer semester to pass the failed course or raise their GPA. If a student remains on probation for both the Odd and Even semesters of an academic year — even after attending that year's Summer Semester — they are removed from the university's rolls, though they remain eligible to seek re-admission after paying the full admission fee.

The minimum qualifying CGPA for completion of all Bachelor's Degree Programs at MUET (B.E, B.Arch., B.CRP, B.E Tech, BS, and BBA) is 2.00.

If your CGPA is below 2.00 after your final semester, you may seek re-admission in one or more courses graded C or below (subject to the program's maximum allowed duration and payment of the full admission fee). If your CGPA is already 2.00 or above, you may still seek re-admission to improve a course graded C or below, provided your pass certificate, transcript, and degree certificate have not yet been issued.

Degree programs must also be completed within a fixed time ceiling: 6 years for a 4-year degree program and 7 years for a 5-year program (e.g. B.Arch.), each extendable by one additional year on request after the 6- or 7-year mark, with the full admission fee payable on any extension.

MUET awards Medals and Positions only to students who pass their courses/papers in the first attempt. Positions are decided on CGPA, calculated to four decimal places — ties at four decimal places are the only case where a Position is shared between students.

You are not eligible for a medal or position if you:

• passed any course on a second attempt;
• registered in a summer semester or any special semester;
• completed your degree beyond the minimum prescribed duration; or
• are being considered on the strength of a CGPA improvement (no Medal/Roll of Honor is awarded for improving CGPA).

Disciplines with fewer than 10 students do not award a position at all.

Credits transfer on a course-to-course basis: a course taken at another university (University X) transfers to MUET only if it is equivalent to a course MUET itself teaches.

• No credit hour transfers if the grade earned was below C.
• Transferred credit hours may not exceed 50% of the total credit hours required for the MUET degree.
• Credit hours may only be transferred between duly recognized HEIs and internationally recognized universities.
