College of Charleston (CofC) GPA Calculator

An "I" (Incomplete) indicates that only a small part of the semester's work remains and the student is otherwise doing satisfactory work; the faculty determines the completion deadline, up to 60 days from the last scheduled exam of the semester the "I" was received. If the work is not completed within 60 days, the "I" is automatically changed to an "F."

An "AU" (Audit) carries attempted hours but no quality points, quality hours, or earned hours, and full fees and tuition still apply.

Repeated courses (RA-RF) are included in the GPA calculation but excluded from earned hours, and are displayed on the transcript with an "R" preceding the letter grade (e.g. RA, RB+, RC).

An "XXF" indicates a grade of "F" assigned because a student failed a course due to academic dishonesty; it carries 0.000 quality points, the same as a standard "F."

Courses taken elsewhere qualify for transfer credit only with a grade of "C" (2.000 on a 4.000 scale) or better. "PT" (Pending Transcript) and "VP" (Visiting Permission) are placeholder statuses used until the official final transcript arrives and transfer credit is evaluated; qualifying courses are then changed to "TR" (Transfer Credit Awarded), which carries no quality points or quality hours. "CP" (Completed Program) is used for programs such as international study or cross-registration and likewise carries no quality points, quality hours, or earned hours.

Students readmitted to the College after an absence of three or more calendar years may choose to have their previous College of Charleston record treated as transfer credit under the Three Year Option (Academic Forgiveness Policy) if they achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.500 or better in their first 15 credit hours after returning.
