Sacramento City College (SCC) GPA Calculator

In addition to the lettered A–F scale, Sacramento City College transcripts use these notations, none of which carry a grade-point value:

• P (Pass, C or better) — not computed in the GPA.
• NP (No Pass, less than C) — not computed in the GPA; affects progress notice and pause.
• I (Incomplete) — not computed in the GPA; affects progress notice and pause.
• W (Withdrawal) — not computed in the GPA; affects progress notice and pause.
• EW (Excused Withdrawal) — not computed in the GPA; does not affect progress notice and pause and does not count as one of the three repeat attempts.

The grade point average is found by dividing total grade points earned by total units attempted with a letter grade. A student may elect Pass/No Pass grading on eligible courses: an underlying A, B, or C grade is recorded as P (full grade points, not GPA-computed); a D or F is recorded as NP (no grade points). Once filed, a Pass/No Pass election cannot be changed back to a letter grade.

A student who completes 12 or more semester units, earns a 2.0 GPA on the 4.0 grading scale, and completes more than 50 percent of enrolled units merits good standing; students in good standing are limited to 18 units per semester. A GPA of 3.0 or higher in a semester of 12+ units earns Academic Honors, and 3.5 or higher earns Highest Honors, with eligibility to join Phi Theta Kappa and participate in the Honors Program.

Students who maintain an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better are eligible for graduation with honors, and those with 3.5 or better are eligible for graduation with highest honors. All undergraduate-level coursework completed is used to calculate honors at graduation, including coursework taken outside the Los Rios Community College District; for ADT degrees, only transfer-level undergraduate coursework is used.

A course with a substandard grade (D, F, NC, or NP) may be repeated up to two times; the grade and credits from the final enrollment are used exclusively in determining grade points for that course (Cal. Code Regs., Title 5, section 55042), effective across all Los Rios colleges. Separately, a student may petition for Academic Renewal to discount prior substandard grades (D, F, or NP) once at least 12 consecutive months have passed and at least 12 units of C-or-better or Pass/Credit work have since been completed at a regionally accredited college (Title 5, section 55046); a maximum of 30 units may be discounted district-wide. Discounted coursework remains visible on the transcript but is excluded from the GPA.
