County College of Morris (CCM) GPA Calculator

Grades at County College of Morris are assigned quality-point values. The Grade Point Average is calculated by multiplying each course's quality-point value by its number of credits, summing the results as “total quality points,” and dividing that sum by the total number of credits attempted. The Semester GPA measures a single term's work; the Cumulative GPA represents all work completed at the college.

Some designations carry no quality points and are not factored into the GPA at all: Registered to Audit (R), Incomplete (I), Incomplete Extension (IE), Pass (P) and Satisfactory Progress (SP) used in non-credit courses, Withdrew (W, recorded without academic penalty), Credit by Examination (EX), and the Transfer Credit family of designations.

A student who has substantially completed coursework may request an Incomplete (I) after the withdrawal deadline has passed, at the instructor's discretion, when illness or other circumstances beyond the student's control prevent finishing the work. The student has four weeks from the end of the semester to complete the outstanding work; if it is not finished by then, the Incomplete converts to a Failure (F). A student who needs more time can request an Incomplete Extension (IE) by documenting extenuating circumstances and proposing a completion date before the four-week Incomplete deadline; if the final grade is not submitted by that date, the IE designation itself converts to F.

Grades are determined solely by the individual faculty member and can only be changed by that instructor. A student who wishes to contest a grade must first attempt to resolve the matter with the instructor and, if unresolved, may bring it to the department chair with supporting evidence. Appeals must be made no later than one semester after the grade is posted, and grades cannot be changed after graduation except to correct a recording error.

Midterm warning notifications are sent to students demonstrating unsatisfactory academic work and/or lack of attendance through the midpoint of the 15-week term. An unsatisfactory “U” designation indicates that a student's classroom performance is unsatisfactory, and an “SW” designation indicates that the student should withdraw from the course. Neither designation appears on the student's transcript; both are intended to prompt the student to seek academic support.

A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required for graduation.

Transfer credit is recorded under a family of grade designations (TR, TA, TA-, TB+, TB, TB-, TC+, TC, TC-, TD); these designations carry no quality points and are not counted toward the GPA.
