College of Southern Nevada (CSN) GPA Calculator

CSN grades on a 4.0 scale with 12 letter grades: A (4.0), A- (3.7), B+ (3.3), B (3.0), B- (2.7), C+ (2.3), C (2.0), C- (1.7), D+ (1.3), D (1.0), D- (0.7), and F (0.0).

There is no A+ — A itself, at 4.0, is the top of the scale. Whether an instructor uses plus/minus grading at all is left to their discretion and stated in the course syllabus.

Several marks appear on a CSN transcript but carry no grade-point value and are not computed in your GPA: I (Incomplete), W (Withdrawal), P (Pass), S (Satisfactory), UN (Unsatisfactory), NR (Not Reported), and AU (Audit).

Your grade point average is the sum of the grade points you've earned divided by the total number of credits earned with a regular letter grade.

If you retake a course, only your highest grade counts toward your GPA — but every attempt stays on your permanent record, and all attempted credits (including lower grades) still count for financial-aid Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Academic Renewal lets you request that up to two consecutive semesters be excluded from your cumulative GPA (once per academic career), if at least five years have passed and you've since completed 15+ credits elsewhere at a 2.5 GPA or better. The coursework stays on your record but is annotated as excluded.

Once you've attempted at least 15 credits, a cumulative GPA below 2.0 places you on Academic Warning for one semester. Clear it by reaching a 2.0 cumulative GPA the next semester.

Miss that mark and you move to Academic Probation, which appears on your official transcript, until your cumulative GPA is back to 2.0 or higher.

A semester GPA below 2.0 while on probation results in Academic Suspension — you can't register for at least one semester, though you may petition the Academic Suspension Appeals Committee. After approval, you're capped at two classes per semester until your cumulative GPA reaches 2.0.

If you're in an Associate of Applied Science program or a Certificate of Achievement, grades of D+, D, or D- in your major occupational area will not count toward your graduation requirements, even though they still carry their normal grade-point value in your GPA.

Advanced Placement (AP) scores can earn placement or credit toward a degree.

CLEP subject exams earn 3-4 credits per approved exam for a score of 50 or above (College Composition Modular isn't accepted at CSN); additional credit is at each department's discretion.

NTE (non-traditional education) credit is capped at 16 credits toward a BAS/AGS/AAS or 8 credits toward a Certificate of Achievement. It doesn't count toward your residence-credit requirement, isn't included in your cumulative CSN GPA, and may not transfer to another institution.
